We are examining parenting interventions in the context of a randomized controlled trial designed to improve child development outcomes in at-risk populations. The candidate will be responsible for implementing a supervised relationship-based intervention with parents and their toddlers and preschoolers in the pediatric clinic. Our Duffield Children’s Center, offer Universal Pre-Kindergarten programming to any child who is four-years of age on or before December first, free or sliding scale child care to low-income parents, and educationally rich day care and afterschool programs to more than 425 children ages 2 to 11. Teachers and volunteers foster environments where children gain reading and math skills. Through our privately-funded afterschool literacy and arts initiatives, children have the opportunity to make their own art and use stories, music, dance, and drama to explore history, science, society, and culture. RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervise Head Start program (three classrooms; 47 children). Ensure full enrollment. Develop and implement creative curriculum. Implement all Head Start Regulations. Ensure that the Head Start program operates in full conformity with funding source expectations. Observe classes on a regular basis and develop and implement interventions based on observations. Write reports for Head Start. Maintain PIR (Program Information Report) and National Reporting System Database. REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a current New York State N-6 certification and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Excellent writing skills and computer proficiency. Must have demonstrated achievement in supervision and management, family and community partnerships and collaborating with diverse teams.
